On the recommendation of the Coastal Resources Advisory Council, certified a Land Use Plan amendment for the Town of Emerald Isle.

On the recommendation of the Coastal Resources Advisory Council, certified a Land Use Plan amendment for the Town of Manteo.

Granted a variance to John Young of New Hanover County, who sought relief from the CRC’s 30-foot buffer rule for coastal shorelines in order to construct a driveway extension linking an existing dirt drive with an existing garage.

Granted a variance to the N.C. Dept. of Transportation, who sought relief from the CRC’s sediment sampling requirements in order to place 200,000 cubic yards of sand on the beach face at the Rodanthe “S-Curves” section of Highway 12 in Dare County.

Granted a variance to the N.C. Seafood Industrial Park Authority, who sought relief from the CRC’s rules governing pier length, in order to modify an existing pier permit to redesign a portion of the project and add three new boat slips.

Granted a variance to John and Debra Rouse of Onslow County, who sought relief from the CRC’s rules governing pier length, in order to build a docking facility on their property in Swansboro.

Granted a variance to the Town of Oak Island, who sought relief from the CRC’s 30-foot buffer rules for coastal shorelines and oceanfront setbacks for large structures, in order to extend an existing water treatment system.

Voted to adopt a resolution put forth by the Coastal Resources Advisory Council to request that their member representatives in the North Carolina General Assembly establish a legislative study commission to prepare a comprehensive plan that leads to the creation of a North Carolina Beach, Inlet and Waterway Trust Fund with an annual appropriation, to be used with federal and local matching funds for the following coastal infrastructure projects: beach nourishment; removal of structures encroaching onto public beach areas; inlet channel realignment; dredging navigation channels in inlets and waterways; and public beach, inlet and waterway access.
