At its May 2010 meeting, the CRC:
Certified a Land Use Plan for the Town of Caswell Beach.

Certified a Land Use Plan for the Town of Oak Island.

Certified a Land Use Plan amendment for the Town of Navassa.

Adopted amendments to 15A NCAC 7H .0104 Application of Erosion Setback Factors, to allow lots platted prior to 1979 to use the erosion rate in place at the time the lot was platted when calculating setback factors, if the lot is not buildable using the current erosion rate.

In the case of McDaniel and Kirchner v. DCM, upheld the Administrative Law Judge’s decision that DCM correctly denied a CAMA Major Permit to construct a pier, platform and boatlifts between the two Morehead City properties owned by the petitioners.

Granted a variance to Bennett Brothers Yachts, Inc., who sought to perform new dredging in part of its marina area. The area is designated as Primary Nursery Area by the N.C. Marine Fisheries Commission. CRC rules do not allow dredging in PNAs.

Denied a variance to Pierce Lawing, who sought relief from the CRC’s rule for boathouses, which restricts boathouses to properties with at least 75 linear feet of shoreline, in order to add a boathouse to an existing pier on a property with 50 linear feet of shoreline.
