MEDIA ADVISORY: Rachel Carson Reserve Local Advisory Committee to meet Nov. 8

            WHAT:   Local Advisory Committee Meeting for the Rachel Carson Reserve
            WHEN:   9-11 a.m. Nov. 8
            WHERE: NOAA Administration Building, 101 Pivers Island Road, Beaufort

RALEIGH – The local advisory committee for the Rachel Carson component of the N.C. National Estuarine Research Reserve will meet at 9 a.m. Nov. 8 in Beaufort.

The meeting, which is open to the public, will be in the NOAA Administration Building, 101 Pivers Island Road.

The committee of local residents, partners and leaders provide the N.C. Division of Coastal Management’s Coastal Reserve and National Estuarine Research Reserve staff with guidance and feedback regarding management of the reserve.

The N.C. Coastal Reserve and National Estuarine Research Reserve Program protects natural areas for education, research and compatible recreation. Since its creation in 1989, the program has preserved more than 41,000 acres of unique coastal environments at 10 sites along the coast.
