Welcome, Teachers!

On this page, you will find a variety of helpful resources that we have compiled to assist you in expanding upon the topics explored in the NC Coastal Explorers educational modules.  One the teacher resource page for each module, you will find a link to a chart listing correlations with the NC state education standards.  There is also a table of suggested lesson plans with classroom and outdoor activities that relate to the topics students will encounter in the NC Coastal Explorers module.  We have provided links to background information on each of the topics covered by the individual Coastal Explorers lessons and information about potential field trip sites within the region.  Finally, there are links to other related K-12 activities on the web.

After you have had a chance to review the website, please complete our Educator Survey.  We want to know whether you found this site useful and if it is something you think that you can use with your students.  Your feedback is very valuable to us and we will use it to make improvements to the site, over time.

Looking for more GIS and remote sensing activities for your class?  At the bottom of the page, we have provided links to other great websites that integrate GIS into K-12 education.
